The 5K Course is a 3.1 mile course around Cool Springs along Cool Springs Drive. The 5K participants will pass a water stop on mile 1 and on mile 2. Cheer Teams will also be placed along the course to cheer on the girls and 5K participants.
Girls who are currently participating in the program are already registered for the 5K and will receive their 5K materials (bibs, pins, goody bags) the morning of the event. For all other 5K participants (Running Buddies, coaches, family members and community participants), packet pick-up information is as follows:

CAN I BRING MY DOG OR PET?
For safety, all furry friends are not allowed on the course or at the event, so please leave all pets at home on 5K day! All pets will be asked to return to the pet owner's vehicle if spotted at the event.
ARE THERE AID STATIONS AVAILABLE?
Water will be available at the start. Two Aid stations will be available on the course. Each participant should plan to take no more than two servings of water at each Aid Station. Runners are also encouraged to bring water bottles along on the course. Additional water and snacks will be available at the finish line.
HOW LONG WILL THE 5K RUN TAKE?
Finishing times vary of course, but our fastest runners will complete the run in about 25 minutes. Most runners will fall between 30-45 minutes We will be sweeping the course at one hour from the starting time to ensure all runners have returned to the starting area.
WHERE CAN I PARK?
Official event parking is provided in the school parking lot A, on West Sacramento Ave. A loading/unloading zone is available near the starting line, where all teams will gather prior to the run. You are welcome to drop off here, and follow the parking signs to the official event parking area.
This event would not be possible without the help of amazing volunteers who believe in our mission and show up to support our girls. Over 100 volunteers are needed to put on our best 5K yet! Whatever your special skills and talents, we have a role for everyone.
Volunteers will help with 5K registration, assisting pre-registered runners and event day runners. Approximate arrival time 5:30 a.m. Time commitment is 4 to 5 hours. This volunteer opportunity is best suited for individuals over 18 years of age.
Volunteers will help with logistics and operations. Potential responsibilities include: parking attendants, helping to distribute water to runners, assisting runners at the start line and on the course. Approximate time of arrival is 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m. Time commitment is 4 to 6 hours. These volunteer opportunities are best suited for adults, older teens and adult groups.
Volunteers will help greet buses upon arrival and assist coaches with their 5K materials. Assistance will also be needed with runner refreshments and medal distribution at the finish line, and at the information and merchandise tents. Approximate time of arrival is 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m. Time commitment is 4 to 6 hours. This volunteer opportunity is best suited for individuals over 18 years of age.

Director of Development
Interested in joining the Girls on the Run team?
Girls on the Run Michiana is currently hiring a half-time Director of Development. The position requires an average of 18-20 hours/week throughout the year; up to 25-30 hours/week during the busiest times of the season.
We are seeking a positive, highly-organized, and experienced person to plan and be responsible for development and revenue goals, donor cultivation and stewardship, event planning/execution and support in grant writing. The successful candidate will have a passion for the Girls on the Run mission and be able to professionally represent Girls on the Run. S/he will enjoy maintaining positive relationships with the community and have experience in nonprofit fundraising/development. The candidate is expected to have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and be comfortable utilizing Google Docs, Excel, and online data management systems.
